Drivers Ed. with Right Away Driving School-Partnered with CLCEDriver's EducationChisago Lakes Community Education and Right Away Driving School are teaming up to provide the service in greater detail to the Chisago Lakes Area. The class will be held right here on the CLHS campus. Here are the parameters of the course. You will receive a confirmation email for Driver’s Ed. Within that email, there will be a Google link to an Information Document from Right Away Driving School. This document must be completed in full before your child(ren) can attend class. If it is not completed, your child(ren) will not be able to participate. 30 HOURS OF CLASS: Students under 18 must complete 30 hours of in class instruction before they are able to take the permit test. Once the 30 hours of classroom is complete RAD will issue a “Blue card”. Students will take the blue card to the DMV as proof of course completion in order to take the permit test. Once your child passes the permit test at the DMV they can drive with someone over the age of 21. WHAT IS THE TYPICAL CLASS LIKE? WHAT IS NEEDED?: Monday- Friday. 3 hours each day. Our maximum amount of students in a class is 55. Students will need a highlighter, notebook, and writing utensil for class. We provide manuals. Usually class starts with review. The remainder of class incorporates chapter reading, worksheets, group activity, and chapter testing. WHAT IF MY CHILD NEEDS TO MISS A DAY?: Your child can join the same day they missed in the next Right Away class session. *Cost includes behind the wheel time with Right Away Driving school. Early Childhood ScreeningEarly Childhood Screenings are required for all children before entering kindergarten in Minnesota. Recommended screening age is 3.5 years old. The Chisago Lakes School District provides FREE Early Childhood Screenings throughout the year. During early childhood screenings, staff will check your child's: vision, hearing, height, weight, immunization status, language, motor and communication skills, social/emotional skills and overall development. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss the results of the screening with a staff member. If you do not receive an automatic confirmation email with your appointment date and time you have not completed the registration process for an Early Childhood Screening appointment. *If all currently available screening dates are full, please feel free to add yourself to our waitlist. Should an earlier appointment time become available we will call you to notify you and see if you are interested. Additionally, you can add yourself to the waitlist if you already have an appointment scheduled but would be interested in an earlier appointment should one become available.
