Explore the wonder of your child’s expanding world through a variety of planned activities. In this class, parents and young toddlers play and learn together. There will be an interactive circle time where parents and children participate together with singing and movement activities. Parents and children do not separate. This is your time for purposeful, interactive playtime together. However, time will be provided for parent discussion in the classroom during your child's snack time.

Your two year old will find lots of creative activities to challenge them in the classroom and will begin to make new friends. Parents and children will participate together in singing and movement activities before separation. Parents will then separate from the children’s classroom to discuss the joys and challenges of parenting two year olds.

Three year olds are unique! Come to this class where parents can enjoy learning alongside their three year old. Parents and children will participate together in singing and movement activities. Parents will then discuss the explosion of language, independence, and personality which characterizes this age. There will be lots of fun and learning for parents and children.

What is STEM in ECFE? In ECFE, STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math—but for our little learners, it’s really about exploring, building, creating, and discovering! Through playful, hands-on activities, children learn to ask questions, make predictions, and solve problems. Whether they are building towers, experimenting with water, or sorting objects by color and shape, they are developing the critical thinking skills that form the foundation for all future learning. At its heart, STEM in ECFE is about nurturing curiosity and confidence—and having fun together!

Parents and their children attend weekly classes together. ECFE classes include the following: • Parent/Child Time - A variety of learning activities are set up at stations around the room for you and your child to choose from and enjoy purposeful, and interactive playtime together. • Parent Discussion – Parents meet with a parent group facilitator for discussion and support. • Children’s Classroom – Children enjoy play, snack and story time while parents meet for discussion.

Early Childhood Screenings are required for all children before entering kindergarten in Minnesota. Recommended screening age is 3.5 years old. The Chisago Lakes School District provides FREE Early Childhood Screenings throughout the year. During early childhood screenings, staff will check your child's: vision, hearing, height, weight, immunization status, language, motor and communication skills, social/emotional skills and overall development. Parents will have the opportunity to discuss the results of the screening with a staff member. If you do not receive an automatic confirmation email with your appointment date and time you have not completed the registration process for an Early Childhood Screening appointment. *If all currently available screening dates are full, please feel free to add yourself to our waitlist. Should an earlier appointment time become available we will call you to notify you and see if you are interested. Additionally, you can add yourself to the waitlist if you already have an appointment scheduled but would be interested in an earlier appointment should one become available. NOTE: Adding yourself to the waitlist does not mean that you have an early childhood screening appointment.

The members of this group will do things together - go on day trips, learn new skills and activities and participate in anything the group deems worthy.

Kids Club provides a high quality care program in an environment that is safe, nurturing and FUN! We are an affordable program that parents can rely on throughout the school year and during our 10 week summer program. Our goal is to provide a warm and caring environment for the children with a variety of activities to enrich each child's education. These activities include active recreation and quiet games, arts and crafts, reading and math games and "free time" for the children to pursue their favorite interests. Little Wildcats Preschool is a preschool program designed to prepare children and families for the transition to kindergarten. We focus on pre-reading, writing, communication skills, number awareness, and social skills. Licensed teachers and classroom assistants provide daily large group activities, focused small group activities, snack time, and individual choice time at learning centers in the classroom. We use the state approved assessment tool called “Teaching Strategies GOLD” (TS GOLD). It is an ongoing, authentic, observation-based, whole-child assessment system. This means we do not test children. Instead, we engage in an ongoing process of assessment so we learn about what every child knows and can do **If you would like to register your child for the CURRENT school year, please call the Early Childhood Office 651-213-2282 Registration for the 2025-26 School year will open March 3rd @ 8:00am Once at capacity, waiting lists are formed. Preschool Plus is a 2 days/week program for 3-5 year olds and their parents/guardians. Parents/guardians and children attend class one day each week together, and children attend the second day by themselves. Parent/guardians participation on parent/child days is required, as activities set up in the classroom are designed for children to do with their parents/guardians. Parents/guardians also will enjoy group discussions about ways to help prepare children for a positive transition to kindergarten.
