Chisago Lakes JR Wildcats GymnasticsRecreation & SportsXcel Team Program Structure:Our Xcel competitive team program offers multiple divisions designed to accommodate gymnasts of varying skill levels and competitive goals. Each division builds progressively on the previous level, allowing athletes to develop confidence and mastery before advancing. Training commitments range from 3-8 hours per week depending on division level. Program Progression and Assessment:Advancement between levels requires demonstrated skill proficiency, appropriate training readiness, and competitive success at the current level. Athletes typically spend 1-2 years per division, though individual progression varies based on natural ability, training consistency, and personal goals. Regular assessments ensure athletes train at appropriate levels while maintaining motivation and competitive success. Xcel Bronze Division - Gymnasts develop skills across all events, including squat-on vaults, casts and back hip circles on bars, basic jumps and turns on beam, and beginner tumbling and dance routines on floor. Training emphasizes proper technique, strength, coordination, confidence, and progression toward more advanced skills. Bronze is the entry level of competitive gymnastics, with athletes typically training 3–5 hours per week over 2–3 sessions. This level focuses on building strong foundational skills, confidence, and competition readiness while keeping gymnastics fun and engaging. Gymnasts develop skills across all events, including squat-on vaults, casts and back hip circles on bars, basic jumps and turns on beam, and beginner tumbling and dance routines on floor. Training emphasizes proper technique, strength, coordination, confidence, and progression toward more advanced skills. Xcel Silver Division - Silver gymnasts typically train 3–6 hours per week over 2–3 sessions. This level builds on foundational skills by introducing more advanced techniques while still offering flexibility for a variety of athletes. Gymnasts continue progressing on all events with stronger vaults, higher casts and tap swings on bars, leaps and turns on beam, and more advanced tumbling and choreography on floor. Training focuses on skill connections, strength, confidence, clean technique, and consistent performance as athletes prepare for higher-level competition. Xcel Gold Division - Gold gymnasts typically train 4–6 hours per week over 2–3 sessions and demonstrate a strong commitment to competitive gymnastics while maintaining balance outside the gym.
